As of late July, the two were exploring the North Valley and improving their flight skills. In 2019, the nest was seven feet long at its longest point, four feet wide at its widest point, was about 3.5 feet high, and had a perimeter of roughly 18 feet. Our best guess is six feet high at its tallest measure. We can’t really get a height on it, since we can’t get anywhere near the bottom and the nest slopes downward from the top. Measured outermost stick to outermost stick, the nest measured 12 feet across. In 2021, the nest was 8.25 feet at its longest point and 6.25 feet at its widest point. The North nest is 56 feet off the ground. 2009: A pair of eagles establishes the Decorah North territory, building a nest in a white pine tree. The eagles build a new nest in a dead elm tree. 2011: The branches holding the nest collapse. The eagles begin a new nest in a white oak tree. 2015: RRP adds cameras to the North Nest in September.Kike Arnal and Amy Ries build a starter nest in mid-September. The nest falls out of the tree following a storm in late August. 2018: A female eagle (DNF, or Decorah North Female) replaces Mrs.2020 will mark their seventh season and fourth nest on this territory. None of the tree branches were broken or damaged, so we decided to build a starter nest in the same spot. In August of 2018, their nest collapsed and slid or fell out of the nest tree during an extremely heavy storm. They nested there for just one year before moving to their current location in late 2013. The branches collapsed after the second nesting season and the eagles moved to a dead elm tree. The first nest at the North site was built in a pine tree. We don’t know exactly how or when it happened. The female is the Decorah North Female, or DNF, who replaced Mrs. But that doesn't just go for the criminal side of the equation: even inside the Gotham City Police Department, we see how the highly capable detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) has been passed over and minimized by her less competent male counterparts, giving her and Harley some unspoken common ground when they inevitably have to work together.Decorah North Bald Eagles: DNF and Mr. (Fact: life is just better without Jared Leto's Joker in it.)ĭirector Cathy Yan balances Harley's inherent humor and candy-colored brightness with some occasionally dark material, exploring how dangerous life for Gotham's women can be when sociopathic men like Sionis (Ewan McGregor, having an absolute ball) are in power. Even though all of the characterizations in this film are heightened to comic book movie levels, writer Christina Hodson actually makes Harley's journey in that regard feel both relatable and cathartic. In part, this is a movie about a woman who is searching for her own identity after centering her life around her boyfriend. Margot Robbie, who was one of the rare bright spots in Suicide Squad, gets to fully shine here as the delightfully deranged Harley. But Birds of Prey is a massive improvement over its predecessor on every level, putting dynamic female characters in the center of the frame and giving us a perspective we haven't seen yet in films set in Gotham. Why It's Essential Viewing: After the absolute mess that was 2016's Suicide Squad, which introduced a live-action Harley Quinn to audiences for the first time, I can totally understand why people might be a little hesitant to jump back into another adventure starring one of Suicide Squad's main characters. When an important diamond is stolen out from under Sionis, Harley and a collection of capable women are thrown into a whirlwind adventure to retrieve it, enact some revenge, and bond in the process. That makes her the new target of every lowlife in Gotham City who she ever wronged, including notorious gangster Roman Sionis.
